From Tierra del Fuego to the northernmost boarders of Canada, from the
tip of Africa to the North of Europe, over the immense territory of
Asia and also the South Sea Islands, the different branches of the
Alliance Française live in harmony with their environment.
The branches of the Alliance Française owe their success in part to
their remarkable degree of integration into the social fabric of their
host countries. In accordance with their statutes, these associations
set up under local law have true autonomy and are administered by
local directors. This formula, which is peculiar to the Alliance
Française, favours the link between the teaching and cultural
programmes.
These associations represent a desire among local Francophiles to
share their love of French language and culture with their fellow
countrymen.
